KAMERON “KAM” HOUFF

“I live for the Music and Song.” This would become something of a coat of arms for Kameron (Kam) Houff. While in high school, he started his own band at the age of fourteen. It was also at this time that he decided to write his own songs. However, with the end of high school came the dissolution of the band. It was during the summer of 1994 when Kam met Scott Storch and Chuck Treece. Together, they formed a group called “Madd Crop.” The group was signed to RuffHouse/Columbia Records. The idea behind “Madd Crop” was to combine Hip-Hop, Soul and Pop. Such a combination was revolutionary at the time. Today, this type of synthesis of genres has become mainstream. But it was Kam’s group that was one of the first to try such a phenomena. The “Madd Crop” experience was just a preview for what was going to become of Kam’s music life. Kam was hired to work at the legendary Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. While there he was an in-house producer and writer. It was during this time as a writer that Kam became interested in the technical side of the studio. This is when he started to hone his skills as an engineer/mixer.

Kam is very fortunate to be blessed with such diversified talent. He is a writer, producer, engineer, mixer, singer and drummer. He has worked with artists such as Destiny’s Child, Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Mario, Janet Jackson, 50 Cent, Christina Aguilera, The Roots, Jessica Simpson, Beyonce, Floetry, and Busta Rhymes. Kam also went on to write, record and mix records that created sales of over 25 million worldwide. The record Kam co-wrote with Scott Storch and Ne-yo for Mario, “Let Me Love You”, held the number one position on Billboard’s Top 100 for 9 weeks, R&B/Hip-Hop charts for 11 weeks and the European chart for 13 weeks.
